✦ Synopsis
A~tract--The solution behaviour of four dextran fractions with molar masses between 2.3 x 105 and 13 × 10 ~' g/mol in water was investigated by dynamic light scattering in the region 25-120cC and 1 2000 bar. It has been pointed out that the diffusion coefficient increases with temperature (as a consequence of faster fluctuations of the molecules) and decreases with pressure, almost negligibly at 25°C but most pronounced at 120'C. The activation energy of diffusion remains nearly independent of temperature and pressure. A linear plot of In D vs. In/Q,, was obtained. The experimental results are discussed in terms of some theories.
