Abstract
Body temperatures of individually housed Sceloporus occidentalis were monitored continuously while the animals moved freely over a thermal gradient during several daily lightβdark cycles and a subsequent period of constant darkness. These selfβselected body temperatures display a distinct daily pattern, a pattern which is maintained (with an altered cycle length) during constant darkness.
