Nonlethal doses of methylxanthines (caffeine or theophyline) produced dose-dependent lethality in rats pretreated with isoniazid. lsoniazid pretreatment did not alter theophylline concentration in blood or brain, suggesting that the drug interaction was not due to altered distribution or metabolism
