Abstract
In this paper, we show how a rhombic antenna can be operated in a degenerate fashion in order to produce a switched beam. The antenna demonstrator designed to operate at 1 GHz is shown to beam scan in elevation by about 10Β°, controlled only by the use of a switched 500 Ξ© resistor. Under these conditions, the antenna exhibits a sending end impedance variation of 1.6:1. This type of antenna could find application for use in lowβcost vehicular and assetβtracking applications.βΒ© 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 29: 84β86, 2001.

## Abstract A planar Vivaldi array antenna that can achieve four sector radiation patterns in the azimuth plane is presented. Prototypes of the proposed antenna operating within 3.1β10.6 GHz for ultrawideband applications were designed and constructed. Measured and simulated results are used to dem
