โฆ Synopsis
A beam, modelled by standard beam elements, is to be connected to a plane, which is modelled by quadrilateral elements. Beam elements include rotational d.0.f. but quadrilateral elements do not. The connection is made by extending the beam into the plane by an additional beam element. Herein we present a formula for the stiffness of the additional beam element so that the elasticity of the support is properly represented.
