β¦ Synopsis
Scattering observables of the NN and YN interactions and nuclear-matter properties are investigated in a recent quark model developed for a unified description of the NN and YN systems. The model is formulated in the (3q)-( 39 ) resonating-group method, and incorporates the full Fermi-Breit interaction with explicit quark-mass dependence and the minimum meson-exchange potentials of scalar and pseudo-scalar meson nonets directly coupled to quarks. Reasonable agreement with the available experimental data is obtained for the NN properties and the low-energy YN cross sections.
Predictions for the C+p and Ap scattering observables at intermediate energies are very much modeldependent, suggesting the importance of further experimental studies of these quantities.

The previous analysis of the short-range NN repulsion originating from the Goldstone boson exchange hyperfine interaction between constituent quarks is revisited. We study in which respects the repulsion depends on the radial form of the spin-spin quark-quark force. We show that while the radial for
