โฆ Synopsis
America was the most prominent victim of the aggressive Slammer computer virus.
Richard Clarke, the former top adviser to President George W Bush on cybersecurity, may have called it "a dumb worm", but virtually overnight, Slammer shut down 13,000 ATMs in the land of opportunities. Bank of America ATMs ceased to spit out cash. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce ATMs were also knocked offline. Within minutes, Slammer had both infected banking networks and scared the entire financial industry.
