Axent announces acquisition of Datamedia

Axent Technologies has acquired Datamedia Corporation. Datamedia is a vendor of information security products for the Microsoft DOS and Windows platforms. Axent will acquire Datamedia's three product lines: SECURECard, SECURExchange and Enterprise SignOn. SECURECard adds discretionary file access controls, user identification and authentication, file encryption, multiple security privilege levels and audit capabilities. SECURECard adds C2 functionality to either standalone or networked PCs. SECURExchange is a messaging product which is integrated with popular electronic mail packages such as Microsoft's MS-Mail and Lotus Development Carp's cc.mail. The product allows existing electronic mail systems to send and receive confidential information over public and private networks using asymmetric (public/ private) key encryption to ensure that mail messages, or files attached to the mail messages, can be read only by the intended parties. The source of the message is authenticated using digital signature technology. Enterprise SignOn (ESO) is a network-wide identification and authentication product that enables users to logan to the network and automatically gain secure access to heterogeneous platforms, including LAN servers, mid-range and mainframe systems without having to logan more than once. Logan IDs, passwords, system resources, applications and computing platforms are associated with the user profile in the central directory.
