✦ Synopsis

The overtone spectrum ofneopentane vapor is measured from 63 to 670 Torr, The bandwidth for AUCH = 5 is substantially smaller for the gas than the liquid. The local mode overtone bandwidths are much smaller than for other molecules.

The results are discussed in terms of local mode coupling and vibrational state dynamics.
