✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel design of tuning stub is presented to improve the performance of printed dipole antenna. In large antenna array, the feed network occupies large ground area, which will deteriorate the performance of antenna array and limit the design of large antenna array. The tuning stub is proposed to reduce the effect of the ground size on antenna array. The stub is approximately one‐fourth wavelength, and its size and position are optimized to control the coupling between the dipole and ground. Under the same measurement condition, the antenna with stub has bandwidth almost two times that of the reference antenna without stub. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
