Abstract
This article presents a new bandpass filter (BPF) with a broad‐side coupled triple split‐ring resonator (T‐SRR) using left‐handed metamaterial on a Teflon substrate. Then, by replacing the series quarter‐wavelength connecting lines with the equivalent T‐shaped line, a compact BPF with a second harmonic rejection can be obtained. These filters show insertion losses of 1.2 and 0.75 dB, and return losses of 17.8 and 18.2 dB at the central frequency of 10 GHz, respectively. The experimental result for the second harmonic rejection is 21.5 dB at 17.3 GHz. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett, 2011; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com.
