F ollowing the takeover of Ballard
Power Systems AG by Ford and DaimlerChrysler, the 50:50 joint venture has been renamed NuCellSys GmbH.
The acquisition is a major step in realigning the Fuel Cell Alliance between Ballard, Daimler-Chrysler and Ford. NuCellSys will continue developing and manufacturing fuel cell systems for automotive applications that control and supply the fuel cell stack with conditioned gases under dynamic load changes and automotivespecific requirements. Ballard will focus on developing fuel cell stacks. DaimlerChrysler and Ford will assemble the complete fuel cell drivetrain including the inverter, electric engine and hydrogen storage for integration into their vehicles.
