Polyvel plasticizer simplifies nylon production

N ew Jersey-based masterbatch firm Polyvel Inc has developed a pelletized plasticizer masterbatch for commercial compounding into nylon 6. HP-N01 is 40% N-butyl benzene sulphonamide in a nylon 6 carrier resin.

According to the company, HP-N01 pellets are easily blended with or co-metered with nylon pellets into an extruder. The pelletized product eliminates handling and exposure problems with this volatile liquid.

Polyvel specializes in masterbatch products involving liquid, low melting point, highly volatile or heat-sensitive polymer additives. Its product lines include antifogs, antistats, fragrances, slip additives, wetting agents, processing aids, mould releases, lubricants and peroxides. The company recently launched a new antifog for LDPE film applications [ADPO, December 2007].
