✦ Synopsis
The title compounds have been prepared in low yields starting with cis-(CH,CN),-Mo(CO), or Mo(CO), (photochemical route). The new complexes are generally less stable than the corrcsponding hexaalkylborazine-chromium compounds and react very smoothly with Lewis bases by cleavagc of the borazine-metal bond. Thc 1R.-spectra indicate the similarity of type of bonding in hexaalkylborazinc-molybdenum and -chromium complexes.

The structure, infrared spectrum, and heat of formation of B2N, B2N-, BO, and B20 have been studied ab initio. B2N is very stable; B20 even more so. BIN, B,N-, B20, and probably B2N+ have symmetric linear ground-state structures; for B20, an asymmetric linear structure lies about 12 kcal/mol above t
