Abstract
Polycarbonate 3 was synthesized by copolymerisation of 4‐(p‐hydroxyphenylisopropyl)phenol with [3,5‐Bis(hydroxymethyl)phenylazo]‐methylmalonodinitrile (2a). This azo groups containing polycarbonate was employed as initiator for graft copolymerisations. The content of azo functions in the resulting copolymers was determined by ^1^H NMR, microanalysis, and DSC‐measurements, and M~n~ by vapor pressure osmometry. Grafting was carried out with styrene in 1,4‐dioxane and the resulting products were characterized by IR, ^1^H NMR, HPLC, and vapor pressure osmometry.
