Drafty is a personal computer-based 2D drafting system from Norrie-Hill Limited. Running on the Hewlett-Pachard 86A, Drafty uses a numeric heypad rather than a tablet to control the display. The commands are arranged in levels, accessed through the function keys. The 12 in display has a resolution of 544 x 240 pixels. User memory included in the system is 196 hbytes. Up to 128 kbytes extra memory may be added.
Norrie-Hill see Drafty being used as an engineer's personal CAD system, or for large companies who want to experiment with CAD before investing in a larger system. The comapny claims a strong pre-launch interest from educational establishments.
Drafty is upwards-compatible with Norrie-Hill's larger Sorce 36 system. Curve-fitting is not currently handled by Drafty," however the company is looking at ways of speeding up arc drawing by low level coding.
