β¦ Synopsis
Accumulating evidence indicates that materials active in certain inductive interactions can be demonstrated under appropriate conditions a t some distance from their tissue source (Niu and Twitty, '53 ; Grobstein, '53 ; McKeehan, '58). The nature of such inductive materials is not yet fully defined, but the evidence suggests that they are large molecular (Grobstein, '56a). The possibility that they are normal components of the intercellular substance or matrix has been suggested (Grobstein, '55a).
It follows that information is needed on the production,

## Abstract The interactions between irradiated and unirradiated blastemas and stumps in the newt forelimb were studied. Irradiated right blstemas at the stage of early digits were grafted to unirradiated left stumps and unirradiated left blastemas were grafted to irradiated right stumps. Grafts we
