Autoradiographic studies were conducted on the binding of 3H-GABA and 3H-muscimol in cultures of rat cerebellum. Binding sites for both substances were observed on many cerebellar neurones, such as Purkinje cells and interneurones, but not on glial cells. Binding of 3H-GABA and 3H-muscimol was inhibited by unlabelled GABA and by the GABA antagonist bicuculline.

Quantitative [3H]muscimol autoradiography was used to perform a comprehensive examination of the GABAA receptor site in entorhinal cortex kindled and handled control rats. Ninety-eight brain areas were analyzed 24 h or 28 days after the last kindled seizure. A significant post-kindling change was ob
