Abstract

The autoprecipitation of strontium ions from alkaline solutions as strontium carbonate by the action of atmospheric carbon dioxide was investigated radio‐metrically using ^89^Sr as a tracer. Titanium hydroxide precipitated in situ was found to enhance the autoprecipitation process of strontium ions as carbonate. The method is suggested for strontium fixation from radioactive waste solutions.
