✦ Synopsis

The purpose of the paper is to describe a computer aided method of selective segregation of automotive valves by size and geometry. The aim of the method is to achieve higher production rates, whilst improving the high dimensional and geometrical requirement. It is hoped that such method will he far more economical and more productive as compared with the manual method of selection often applied in China. The prototype system developed carries out five separate parameters and segregates the valves into three quality groups at a failure rate of 0.0063-0.026 with a machine cycle of 4-7.5 s.
