โฆ Synopsis
A number of methods have been described for automatic amino acid analysis by ion-exchange chromatography followed by calorimetric determination of the separated amino acids, e.g., Spackman, Stein and Moore (l), Piez and Morris (2), Inglis (3)) and Hamilton (4). It was felt that improvements in the versatility, sensitivity, and convenience of these methods could be achieved (a) by substituting an optical density recording spectrophotometer for the usual calorimeter and (b) by measuring the output of the photometer with a digital voltmeter and recording it on punched paper tape for computer calculations. The operation of such a system is the subject of this paper. METHODS
