โœฆ Synopsis

The effect of several patient variables on the time taken to complete automated medical histories was studied. Patient age, number of complaints. and the time required to complete the instructional portion of the interview showed a positive correlation with overall interview time. There was a negative correlation between the patients years of formal education and interview duration. Current and future applications of these findings to interview strategy are discussed.
