Background: Recently the ''comet assay'' or ''single-cell gel electrophoresis assay'' has been established as a sensitive method for the detection of DNA damage and repair. Most of the software now available to quantify various parameters for DNA damage requires the interaction of a human observer.
A general method for a continuously monitored spectrophotometric assay of glycosidases at all values of pH using p-nitrophenyl glycosides is presented. The method is demonstrated specifically by the development of a routine assay for cY-galactosidase from fig and Morlierella vinacea using p-nitrophe
