This paper is concerned with the autoignition limits of some well known polymeric materials (polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene) in still air, obtained by the spontaneous autoignition method. Results have been obtained over a wide range of conditions; they show the existence of a two-stage autoignition resulting from a cool combustion for polyethylene and polypropylene. These results confirm and extend previous studies.
