✦ Synopsis
Recently, we presented a survey and analysis of large-capacity content addressable memories (CAMs). In his note, Parhami correctly points out that we omitted a reference to his seminal survey paper in this field; we regret this omission. Other contentions in his note are addressed in this reply. The motivation and structure of the original paper are reviewed to set the context. The parametric and graphical aspects of the paper, which we call the "taxonomy", are indeed original, and reiterated as accurate. Our emphasis in the paper was, justifiably, on integrated circui! implementations and real physical issues relating to such implementations.
