โฆ Synopsis
The extraction and fractionation of toxic maize-meal cultures of Asuergillus ustus CSIR 1128, guided by bio-assay in ducklings, led to the isolation of austsmide (I) as one of the toxic metabolites.
The structural elucidation of I is reported herein.
2o" Austamide, [n]D + 152' (2 1, EtOH) is a yellow amorphous compound with an intense green fluorescence and has the molecular composition C21H21N303.
