Esarninatioii of tlie blood of newts infected with Trypanosoma diemyctyli (Tobey, '06) and Dactylosoma jahiii spnov. ( Xgrelli, '29) showed a high pci-centage of abnormal erythrocytes. These abnormal elements have been interpreted as stages i n degeneration of the red cells, and the chief point of interest is tlie behavior of the nnclens. I n the majority of cases t h e r s i s a striking loss of iiuclcav substance, which tlicii appears in the cytoplasm as basopliilic filaments, globules, granules, and as n diffiise basopliilia.
