✦ Synopsis

Our paper describes radio-wa¨e propagation through a forest. The transmitter and recei¨er are situated in the forest medium. It was found that two mechanisms of propagation depend on the transmit-ter᎐recei¨er distance. At short distances, the direct wa¨e dominates. The mechanism at large distances is similar to wa¨e propagation along the earth surface. The estimation of the effecti¨e complex permitti¨ity of a forest is obtained.

## Abstract Biologically active ultraviolet (UVER, 280–400 nm) and global (300–3000 nm) solar irradiances have been recorded and analysed in a rural area in Valladolid (Spain) for a period of 49 months between June 2002 and December 2008. UVER daily measurements follow the pattern of the solar elev
