The imlmzs' yeast reduction of (trifluore~tyl)biphonyl derivatives produces (R)-trifluoron~thyl biplumylyl carbinols in high cnantiosciectivity, whereas the reduction of the same derivatives with Geotrichum ca~_'_d~m acetone powder gives the corresponding (S)-carbinols in excel l ent yields and cnantiosciectivity.
