β¦ Synopsis
The nonlinear dynamic behavior of a continuous distillation column is investigated emphasizing two types of asymmetry. A simplified hypothetical mathematical model of the column is set up. After the calculation of the steady-state composition distribution and the separating efficiency, transients and mean delay time during the state transitions between the normal and the other steady states are calculated.
Some qualitative considerations on asymmetrical dynamics of the column are also given.
