Abstract

Three non‐insulin‐dependent (Type 2) diabetic patients were assessed for the presence of significant and progressive retinopathy within 12 months of diagnosis. All subjects required specialist referal for fluorescein angiography but retinal abnormalities regressed within two‐to‐six months possibly, due to relaxation of glycaemic control. Regular ophthalmological surveillance is required in all Type 2 diabetics following initiation of therapy to lower blood glucose.
