Catalytic combustion has a potential role to play in many items of plant, as a way of minimizing emissions and possibly as an aid towards improvext energy efficiency. In this paper, preliminary calculations are made concerning the possible application of catalytic combustion in the tubes of a fire-tube boiler fired using natural gas.

The impact of radiation heat transfer on heterogeneous catalytic oxidation of a fuel on a flat plate is studied. The boundary layer equations are solved numerically for an adiabatic plate. The important nondimensional groups are identified and the results are presented over wide ranges of all these
