Abstract
When applied on the basis of the exact cylindrical wire kernel, thin‐wire moment‐method formulations yield singular integrals, the direct numerical calculation of which possesses certain difficulties. The scope of this work is the assessment of a simple singularity isolation technique for the accurate evaluation of typical potential and reaction integrals arising in moment‐method analysis of cylindrical antennas. The extracted singular part of these integrals is obtained analytically by properly approximating the singular integrands within a small area embracing the singularity. Numerical results illustrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed technique over a wide range of segment lengths. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
