β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents data drawn from a survey of a group of environmental researchers concerning the desired characteristics of a data repository for their own content. It shows the importance of support for data preservation, for easy search access, and the use of standards, along with a number of other features. The data are contextualized in terms of issues related to differing needs and issues that result from the nature of scientific inquiry (little science vs. big science) and by the goals associated with different types of information repositories.
