โฆ Synopsis
A methodology for assessing the benefits of residential direct load control (RDLC) is presented in this paper. Through the use of a realistic example, the viability of the methodology and the usefulness of the associated code are demonstrated. Further, by presenting and discussing typical study results, the nature and magnitude of the likely impact of RDLC on a moderately large oil-based utility is illustrated. However, because of the sensitivity of the results to generation mix and other system specific parameters, generalizations are avoided. It is shown for the utility scenario studied that RDLC can reduce production costs through oil back-out, and can improve system reliability.
