En matière de médecine, ma mère avait des théories, ou plutôt une religion : nous étions tous élevés dans le culte de l'homéopathie. Mon frère, ma sœur et moi avions compris que souffrir sans rémission n'avait aucune importance. Le seul crime eût été d'avaler un médicament qualifié d'allopathique, c'est-à- dire étranger à l'homéopathie. L'aspirine était allopathique, donc satanique. J'étais à l'âge où je croyais tout ce que maman disait : quand j'avais la fièvre, je serais morte plutôt que de prendre un comprimé démoniaque.
