โœฆ Synopsis

The soleid fish Aseraggodes corymbus is described from the 76.8 mm holotype collected by trawl from 10 m in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland, Australia in 1963 and four paratypes collected by trawl in the same area 10 years earlier. It is most closely related to A. normani Chabanaud, sharing with it the three branches of the lateral line on the ocular side of the head, and the pelvic fins joined by membrane to the genital papilla. It differs from A. normani in having 38 instead of 35 or 36 vertebrae, a more slender body, shorter head, and in color pattern.
