Among the segment coupling methods used for the chemical synthesis of proteins, [1] native chemical ligation is one of the most powerful and most widely applied reactions. [2] This method provided a major boost to chemical protein sciences, as can be inferred from the increasing amount of publications in which native chemical ligation is employed to construct biologically active proteins.
