โฆ Synopsis
Artwork production for multi-layer printed circuit boards by computer
This paper describes a computer system which integrates three types of numerical control machines in the production of artwork drawings and drill tapes for multi-layer printed circuit boards.
In order to produce multi-layer circuit boards there must be accurate production templates specifying the patterns of copper on each of the layers. The precision of these drawings must satisfy critical requirements on dimensions of circuit tracks, hole sizes, track spacing, integrated circuit packages and datum positions with very small tolerances. The preparation of these drawings, to say the least is exacting. A computer-orientated system is obviously needed to save manpower, to speed up design process and to make a better job. In this paper, a system using a Drawing Measuring Machine is described to assist in the production of artwork drawings and drill tapes. This technique enables tedious drawings to be done which are not, sometimes, possible manually.
