β¦ Synopsis
A Prolog user interface for the steering of the off-line software of a high energy physics experiment is described. It performs the syntax check of the commands, and triggers the execution of adequate Fortran subroutines to execute the required actions.
Available facilities include display of objects selected by their physical mnemonic name and attributes, by screen input with the mouse on the object itself or on a range in a displayed histogram, and on-line reconstruction of objects when necessary. Histograms can be built and manipulated interactively, via the command language. No knowledge of the internal organization of the data is required from the user.
