to the lavage solution there have been no deaths, anastomotic leaks or wound infection. It is noted that the authors irrigated the rectal stump with Cetrimide solution. I would suggest that it would be logical to apply the same reasoning that makes them use this in the rectal stump, to the proximal colon and therefore use either an antiseptic or antibiotic added to the irrigating solution.
