✦ Synopsis
In this article, pattern nulling techniques for linear antenna arrays that make use of phase and position perturbations based on the genetic algorithm are in¨estigated, respecti¨ely. Both nulling techniques are found to be capable of steering the array nulls to the prescribed interference directions and minimizing the perturbations simultaneously. In addition, both perturbation methods that make use of the genetic algorithm are simple and easy to implement compared to the con¨entional analytic method used in this problem. To ¨erify the ¨alidity of both techniques, practical consideration with regard to sensiti¨ity analysis of small ¨ariations of the designed perturbations for the perturbed pattern is examined, and illustrati¨e examples are also demonstrated.
