โœฆ Synopsis

The isolation and structural determination of aristomakine (I), an unusual indole alkaloid with an N-isopropyl group, is reported. Indole alkaloids from Aristotelia spp. l-10 are distinguished by the incorporation into their structures of a monoterpene unit which has not undergone previous rearrangement to loganin, although considerable subsequent rearrangement may take place.
