✦ Synopsis
The ArF*, KrF*, and XeF* emissions resulting from dissociative ion recombination between rare gas cations and SF, anions have been studied in the flowing afterglow. The anions were formed by thermal electron capture by SF,. The KrP product state distribution from the two Kr+ ('P 3,2,,,2) spin-orbit states showed that the B and C states are preferentially formed by the Kr* ('P,,,) reaction, while Kr+ (2P,,2) favors formation of the D state. The state selectivity can be explained by consideration of the potential energy diagram.
