✦ Synopsis

This is a report on the immediate pre±post treatment response of recruited and nonrecruited bulimic patients to psychological treatment. There were many similarities and some differences between the groups prior to treatment. Although both groups signi®cantly improved with treatment, no differences between the groups were found on measures of disturbed eating behaviour, psychopathology and bulimic behaviours. The implications of the results are discussed.
