Photosynthetically active protoplasts were isolated from Chondrus crispus Stackh. by treating thalli with z-carrageenase produced from batch culture of Pseudomonas carrageenovora. Using the silicone oil centrifugation technique, it was found that the protoplasts: (1) did not generally accumulate ino
