Abstract
2,3โBis(methoxymethyl)โ7โoxanorbornene was polymerised in water plus at least 9gdm^โ3^ Synperonic F127 by ringโopening metathesis polymerisation (ROMP) initiated by commercial ruthenium trichloride. Stable dispersions with particle radii 0.03 ฮผn or less were formed. Polymer molecular weights and molecular weight ratios by gel permeation chromatography (M~pk~ > 10^5^, Mฬ~w~Mฬ~n~ โผ 2) were similar to those found earlier for ROMP of the same monomer in solution in aqueous ethanol.
