✦ Synopsis
The analysis given in Part 1 ( Yao and Tien, 1991) was extended to systems with non-linear adsorption isotherms. For systems with non-linear adsorption isotherms, the equivalent linear driving force (LDF) expression of adsorbate uptake rate is actually a non-linear expression which can be obtained from the approximate solution of the intraparticle dilTusion equation by either the least-square method using parabolic proftle approximation or by the orthogonai collocation method with one collocation point. By approximating adsorbate profile with higher-order polynomials (or using a larger number of collocation points in applying the orthogonal collocation method) more accurate uptake rate expressions may be obtained.
