✦ Synopsis
Approximate coupled equations a presented which can simplify the calculation of state&-state multiphoton transition amplitudes in molecular systems, particularly when there are several cw laser fields present. These coupled equations are based on a time-independent effective dressed state Hamiltonian and are derived using an adiabatic approximation to eliminate the off-resonant state amplitudes, ' Contribution No. 7419. * There have been numerous calculations of state-to-state multiphoton processes. It is beyond the scope of the present Letter to reference all of those studies here.
