β¦ Synopsis
Analytical expressions of effectiveness factors for parallel catalytic reactions are obtained after matching asymptotic solutions strictly valid for small and large values of the Thiele moduli. This approximate procedure is versatile in its applicability to arbitrary kinetics and catalyst-pellet geometry and, as the numerical examples show, can yield results which are of sufficient accuracy for most design calculations of reactors. In addition, this method does not require any trial and error computation, and so can offer significant time savings.
